Pregnancy & Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
The pelvis and pelvic floor are not an isolated body part we assess and treat. Your pelvic floor is the foundation of managing pressure.
How Does Pelvis Position Affect The Body?
The pelvis will adjust to our habits of how we stand, sit and sleep. If you favor one half of your body more that the other, if you favor one leg more than another, your pelvic floor follows your habitual pattern. Our Postural Restoration approach is the most wholistic and natural approach in treating pelvic floor dysfunction. The dynamics of how you walk, stand, run, lift, workout and rest are fully assessed as a pattern unique to you.
Common symptoms with pelvic floor dysfunction:

"I walked into Taylor Creek 20 weeks pregnant with horrible right side back pain. It was uncomfortable to sit, stand, lay and walk. It hurt to do anything! I thought I was going to have to go through this the rest of my pregnancy and kept telling myself I was never going to get pregnant again if this is how I am going to feel. My sister also goes to Taylor Creek, so I got an appointment with Kristi Jagels. The first day, she took time looking at my hips, my legs, my neck and my back to get an idea of how she wanted to help me. She showed me step by step exercises to do when my back started to hurt. She took me out of pain and put me back in pain and took me out of pain again to help teach me how to do this on my own. She taught me how to sit, stand, lay and walk. I went in one more time and she gave me more exercises to do. Now, a month later, I can say that I am pain free! Kristi Jagels really cares about her patients and takes the time to figure out what is best for each patient. I would defiantly recommend anyone who is pregnant and in pain to go to Kristi Jagels at Taylor Creek!"

"Sarah never fully recovered from COVID. As a nurse, she struggled to work 12-hour shifts. Her COVID ‘Long-hauler’ symptoms included shortness of breath, rapid heart rate and high blood pressure. She tried pulmonary rehab, but it didn’t help. In addition, she found out she was pregnant with their first child.
“At week 16 of my pregnancy, every step I took was severe groin pain. Rolling over in bed was miserable. I couldn’t lift my leg to climb the stairs. I still had extreme difficulty breathing and work was difficult, even on light duty.” Sarah was referred by her chiropractor and Obstetrician for Postural Restoration at Taylor Creek PT.
“After 2 weeks of PT, that’s when I felt my best. I slept better. I could breathe!! This was very different than pulmonary rehab. I was more active because I didn’t have pain. I thought I was going to be on bed rest early in my pregnancy, but I’ve been able to work through my pregnancy. I’ve had exercises I can do at home or at work to shut off tightness and pain.”
I highly recommend Taylor Creek’s Postural Restoration techniques for pregnancy/pelvic pain and ESPECIALLY for the ‘Long-haulers’ from COVID. "

"Just this week I saw that smile come back to this girl's face. Betty has suffered from stomach issues for the past year or more. She has seen many specialists and the problems keep occurring. Thanks to Kristi Jagels and Taylor Creek, Betty was able to take her pain from a 6 down to a 0. Physical Therapy at Taylor Creek is a blessing. Now comes the hard work for her to learn the exercises and methods to keep her stomach issues under control and to keep smiling. Thank you, Kristi."

"I have had incontinence off and on for a year. If I practiced Kegel exercises, I would always get better but would have to constantly work at it. I would experience weeks or months of nearly daily leaking over the last year. In addition to the incontinence, I had difficulty sleeping, anxiety and daytime fatigue. I would fall asleep, wake up early in the night and be unable to go back to sleep. My mind would have all kinds of worries as I would try to fall back to sleep. In the morning, I was not fully rested. Sleep is important to me, and it was not good.
I no longer have incontinence. When I have the urge to use the restroom, I can wait longer. No longer incontinent when coughing, sneezing or jumping on the trampoline. The Postural Restoration program has helped with all my symptoms from incontinence to sleep and anxiety. I discovered that I was clenching my teeth and recognized that I was holding my breath. These two factors were important to confront in my therapy. A mouthpiece was recommended and was a big factor in addressing my issues. I am thankful for the wholistic approach of Postural Restoration PT to deal with my symptoms"
